There's not many books dedicated to labyrinth fish. The species are described in larger works and publications, but there's few realy good books solely on labyrinth fish. Here are some books we think is worth the money:
1. Aqalog – all Labyrinths. Bettas, Gouamis, Snakeheads, Nandids written by Frank Schafer. - 1997 A must for all labyrinth enthyusiasts. The first encyclopedia containing all speices of labyrinth fish. Still the best, but missing many recently discovered species.
2. Labyrinth Fish / The Bubble-Nest - Builders written by Host Linke. 1991 Somewhat outdated as manye new species has appeared since the late eighties/early nineties. 'Still very good on the species that's been arouns for a while. Good on both Betta an non-Betta species.
3. The Betta handbook - written by Robert J. Goldstein. 2004 A must for all Betta enthyusiasts regardless of species. This book is simply fantastic, and the most complete encyclopedia on Bettas.
4. Bettas, Gouramis and other Anabantoids Labyrinth fishes of the world written by Jorg Vierke. 1986 Somewhat outdated and deficient due to alle the new spices we have seen since 1986. Very good on the speices that has been known for a while.
5. Bettas and Gouramis. Understanding Siamese Fighting Fish, Paradisefish, Kissing Gouramis, and Other Anabantoids - written by David Alderton - 2004 A very good book with a somewhat funny approach. Less focused on Betta species, but very good on the family of labyrinth fish, with practical tips on keeping (mostly) non-Betta anabantiods.
